Need help on where to buy a ring.?

Today is my girlfriend and I’s second anniversary. I wanted to take her out and buy her a silver band, under $100. She’s not big on ornate, fancy jewelry and as of today, does not own a single piece of jewelry. She’s told me before she wouldn’t mind have a modest ring, which is exactly what I want to get her.

Where do we go? The jewelry stores in malls? Target or Wal-Mart? JC Penny’s? I’ve never bought a ring before… Help!
