I have already gotten some guns from Little Jacob ( i.e. PiStol and a Shotgun from his second mission)

go to the gunshops around town…
i think on one mission you go to the gunshop
i dont remember because im way to far from the beginning of the game..lol

Just play though the game missions. Pretty soon into the game you will be taken to a gun shop, and later others open up in the game.
If you keep going out with Jacob (call him on the phone and go and socialize), eventually when he likes you enough an option on the phone will appear marked GUNS. When you call him, he drives to a location near yours and will have a good selection of discounted guns.
If you a really impatient find a maps site online there are some weapons hidden around the place you can get for free.
