Where is the best place to buy a skateboard?

July 22nd, 2008 · 10 Comments

I just recently got a skateboard at Toys R Us and it sucks. It's super heavy, the wheels squeak and it's not shaped like a regular skateboard. Where can I get a good skateboard? Are places in the mall like Zumiez and Vans good? And what brand is best but not to expensive? Help, thanks!

Zumies is the perfect place to get one.

i just recently got a new board and it wasnt all that expensive and it is a great board. although mine did cost a little extra than most because i custom made it.

      goodluck!
((never buy one from toys r us/walmart/or anywhere else like that, unless you want a crappy product.))

world industries are less expensive. go to your local skate shop! you bought a toy at a toy store not a skateboard. remember…u get what you pay for. Your looking at $80 for something 1/2 way decent.

I personally like the shitty cheap london drugs ones because you can completely tear them up not worry about it and get a new one once you have.

I just went to target and saw perfectly good skateboards that are really nice, some are even tony hawk.

I figured that I got ripped off because I bought my skateboard for $70 and there it's just $25 and really good

And at first skateboard wheels will squeak because it is starting to get used to the turns

Just buy a skateboard that actually moves ( unlike my little brothers ) and that you are comfortable with.
and also with a design you like at the bottom ( duh!? )

i think that zumiez and vans has better skateboards but surf and skate has almost all the same ones plus they're way cheaper.
NEVER buy a skateboard at walmart, target, toy r us, or any ghetto shizzz like that.
      go to skate shops.

if you're looking for cheap, when you go and buy it, ask about the prices for the ones you like.
ventures are the cheapest and a good truck company. so i'd say get ventures, and ask to look at all the lows and meds, the person helping you will know what you mean. pick out the one that matches with you're deck.
with you're deck, go for almost, girl, dgk, zoo york, or enjoi.
[if you have tiny feet and are short get a 7.5 if you're tall or average height with big feet, get a 7.75] look at the ones you like [out of almost, girl, dgk, zoo york, or enjoi] and ask to see the ones that 7.5/7.75 [depending on how tall and how big you're feet are].
with wheels, get small wheels. rictas are really good. darkstars and bones are good to. make sure the size is the lowest 45 mm and the highest 53 mm. make sure it matches!
with griptape, it doesn't matter. i'd prefer to get blank black. that way it's original because the ones with designs cost more plus they get messed up anyways from stepping on it and dirt so whats the point?
with hardware it doesn't matter. normally they give you shortys.
with bearings, you'll wanna get good ones like reds or swiss. the best are black panthers.

this will all come up to around $120-$150.
skateboards aren't cheap my friend so start saving up.
      GOOD LUCK!
any other help just message or IM me

Listen to me please, My personal Opinion. The best Quality skateboard DECK around is Alien workshop.
I have used Baker,Plan B,Zero,Element(which is the worst board).Alien workshops have Plenty of Pop,they are light, Durable as can be, and are good universal decks.

Alienworkshop.com-Or DNAMAILORDER.COM is the link directly to buy boards.

i would recomend getting a board online try ccs.com or zumiez.com . This would be a relavtively cheap set up-

deck- Flip or ATM make sure that is like 30 inches long for pretty good flipping and stuff like that

wheels- blanks if you go to ccs.com and create your own the blank title is CCS (those r the blanks they aren't labeled blanks)

trucks- destructos or tensors i dont know which one is cheaper but destructosare more durable but a tad bit heavier.

bearings- try getting bone reds they are good and cheap. and easily cleaned
