where to buy wholesale cellphones?

I'm in canada and see a lot of people selling cell phones in large lots (they unlock and sell at normal prices). I'm sure they bought these in bulk to re-sell, and make a lot of profit since they unlock it. First I need to know where to get the phones, and then how to unlock them . (I'm hoping to make atleast $50 profit per phone…I know this is possible, these people are probably making even more.
